ORLA | 12 DAYS | NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER CUMBERNAULD

This little newborn stole my heart! She was the cutest thing I had handled in a long time...

Mum had booked me well in advance so the anticipation waiting for her arrival grew and grew and although she kept us waiting just a little she arrived home safe and well after a few days being pampered in hospital. Mum & Dad have created the most beautiful handmade nursery for Orla. The gorgeous mobile in this blog post was made by mum!

I really appreciate my clients letting me come in to their homes to spend time photographing their precious new babies. Our babies are only classified as newborns for 12 weeks and this time goes past so quickly you can forget the little faces they pull, the way they hold on to your finger or how tiny their little toes are.

In honour of how damn cute this lil one is i can only listen to one artist and one song 'So in love with you' by Jill Scott. Scroll to the end to enjoy.

CORA | 11 DAYS | NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER NEWTON MEARNS

NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER NEWTON MEARNS

I headed up to Newton Mearns to hang out with the gorgeous new Cora, her Mum & Dad and Marty the Pug (bonafide legend)

It was another glorious day, sun splitting the skies, snow on the ground and that fresh crisp air that wakes you up in the morning. It was such a luxury to grab a coffee and enjoy the drive up to Newton Mearns without my own little guy in tow. The things Mums find luxurious is quite astonishing these days (these include finishing a cup of tea or coffee warm, peeing in private, showering in private.. basically doing anything on your own)

Cora was the perfect stunt baby! She slept when she was meant to sleep and she had a cheeky nosy around when she was meant to be awake. Mum & Dad are absolutely besotted and it made for some gorgeous pics when they all cosied up in bed together as you will see below.

I love the colours in this blog post. Not only is Cora gorgeous, so are Mum & Dads clothes and her home - she's a lucky wee lady to have it to grow up in.

Jamiroquai's 'Starchild' is the perfect song to listen to while writing Cora's blog post in honour of how amazing she was at her newborn session. Scroll to the end for a listen

CARSON | 11 DAYS | NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER AYRSHIRE

NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER AYRSHIRE

I spent the day with this extremely cute couple over in Irvine to photograph them with their beautiful new son Carson. It was the craziest day with blue skies and sunshine but ice everywhere and the sun shone into their lovely home and made the session just that little bit more special as they seem to be illuminated from every angle.

The reason I love lifestyle in-home photography is every session is unique to the family. They get to relax in the comfort of their own home which is so important when you've just brought your little one home. The dads always seem to appreciate being in their own domain... i don't know many men who are comfortable in front of the camera but let them kick about in their jeans and bare feet and suddenly they become more relaxed and i get to capture the intimate shots like i have below.

Their doting new Nanna was on hand with a plethora of drinks and snacks and i was thankful to be wearing stretchy jeans at the end of the session. All these interactions remind me why i chose to do things a little bit differently in our area and photograph these new families in their own homes and not a studio. Not every baby is the same, not ever family is the same and i dont want your pictures to look the same as everyone else's.

MAC | 9 DAYS | AYRSHIRE NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER

Ayrshire Newborn Photographer

I had the best day with the Lavelle Family. I went to go to school with gorgeous little Mac's mum and even though we hadn't seen each other in 20 years (gulp) we chatted away as if we'd been on the school bus the week before.

One of the best things about being a newborn and family lifestyle photographer is I get to hang out with lovely families and watch them just being themselves. I try and capture all the little things that you do that you might not even realise you do... the way mum smiles when she holds her baby, the way dad gently holds his newborn to wind them, the way the grandparents eyes light up when they are hold their grandchild... these moments captured in a photo are worth a thousand words.

I appreciate every booking i get as i know the families appreciate art, which photography is. In a world where everyone has camera phones and take dozens of photos each week it is so nice when clients know they are investing in heirlooms when they book you to capture their baby's early days. They are never going to be this tiny again, their little features change weekly so to have them captured in a seres of photos forever is a true investment. I still look at my sons newborn photos every day. I will admit i didn't fully appreciate how precious the photos would be until i had them done. They mean more to me than any toy, blanket or outfit i bought for my newborn son. My photos take me right back to that day he was 10 days old and i was a rookie mum i awe of my new arrival.

AYRSHIRE BABY PHOTOGRAPHER

DAMON | 9 DAYS | AYRSHIRE BABY PHOTOGRAPHER

Ayrshire Baby Photographer. I left the sunny shores of Troon and headed up to Edinburgh for my first newborn session in the Capital.

What made this session even more special was this is my new little nephew. Welcome the newest Mr Quinn to the family.

My cousin and his beautiful fiancee looked like season pro's when we arrived. The house was immaculate, lunch was on the stove and mum looked gorgeous for their photos.... i on the other hand had my 2 year son in tow... a decision i will never make again. Bless him, if i chose an assistant he wouldn't be covered in food and saying "babay, babay" about a trillion times over.

I used to live in Edinburgh years ago and i absolutely loved the city. When you wander away from the crowded main streets if feels like you could be on the set of Game of Thrones.... not many cities can boast having a huge castle stuck in the middle of it.
